Description
Costa Rica Outward Bound is an experiential education program designed to inspire and develop leadership, compassion, responsibility, respect for the environment and commitment to serve through adventure-based wilderness experiences in Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Panama.
Semester Courses: Imagine Central America as both your classroom and playground! Semester courses take students on adventures through Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Panama. Hike, camp, surf, raft, kayak and Scuba dive while experiencing new cultures and earning academic credit. Semester courses run every year in the spring and fall and range from 60 to 85 days. Choose between our offerings for Fall 2012: Tri-Country Semester, Water & Wave Semester and Leadership Semester courses.
Summer Courses: If you don't have a semester to spare, then create an amazing summer! Our 15-30 day Summer courses will guarantee an amazing experience. Trek through jungles. Explore volcanoes. Surf ocean waves. Brave Class IV rapids. Learn to Scuba dive...or perhaps do a bit of everything! Highlights
Imagine... mud-soaked boots drop from your weary feet to the floor of a newly erected tarp shelter. Your mind retraces the miles of Costa Rican rainforest you've just crossed. You are physically tired, but have found perfect peace. A change has occurred. Things that seemed overwhelming, such as the stresses and worries of everyday life are literally hundreds of miles away. Your mind is focused on the present. Whether you are surfing a big wave, rappelling a waterfall, rafting a Class IV rapid, conversing (to the best of your ability) with the locals in Spanish, exploring a dark cave or summiting a volcano, all that matters is the task at hand. And as each challenge is completed, your strength and confidence grow and the worries of the world fade further and further into the distance.
