Description
Placed in the small village of San Francisco, nestled between the Caribbean Ocean and a tropical rainforest, volunteers have the option to spend a weekend or two exploring this wonderful location and enjoy its many attractions and activities - including stunning beaches, rainforest, canopy tours and white water rafting.
This volunteer program is set in the small village of San Francisco, nestled between the Caribbean Ocean and a tropical rainforest. Volunteers plan and run lessons and assist with English language education for the community members. The local community of San Francisco, near to the world famous Tortuguero National Park and turtle nesting beach, rely on tourism as their main source of income, so English is essential for their day-to-day business. Volunteers will have the opportunity to learn basic Spanish and work with children and adults and experience Costa Rican culture. Volunteers will also supply additional resources to an under-resourced school, and may be required to assist with other lessons and extra-curricular activities.
Highlights
Getting to know the families of San Francisco - and them getting to know and recognize you! Becoming part of the community in a beautiful and remote part of Costa Rica. Group Spanish lessons. Witnessing the beautiful wild rainforests, Caribbean beaches and local canals. Living in a peaceful area with no cars or roads. Witnessing some of the fantastic wildlife of the area such as sea turtles, toucans, monkeys and more. Seeing the direct impact you can have in a short time frame. Taking extra time to explore the wonders of Costa Rica.
