Description

Volunteers will have the opportunity to volunteer in one of four organized settings. These include:

- a shelter for women and girls in distress
- a public school in desperate need of staff
- a boys orphanage
- an HIV+ orphanage

Each of these projects are seeking volunteers to teach English to students, give care and love to students, and help out with other various tasks as needed.

Your goal will in general be to provide all of the children you encounter with a safe, healthy and loving environment, and a chance to share your personal experiences and knowledge from abroad.

Volunteer work and contribution

The projects vary in their structure and schedule, but for the most part volunteers work from Monday-Friday for at least 5 hours per day and will be assisting with some of the following tasks:

- Assisting teachers/staff
- Teaching English
- Teaching a musical instrument or other extracurricular activity (football or art etc.)
- Giving love and support
- Helping out with any general task for which you might be needed

Highlights

Whilst on course, you will be staying Goa, one of India most cherished places. This tiny state located on India's western coast, has long been renowned for its natural beauty: golden sandy beaches, coconut groves, vibrant green paddy fields and dense forests. This Project is located in North Goa, in a small countryside village called Thivim, which is about half hour away from the coast.

In addition to living in a beautiful location, you will have weekends off to travel, and will be able to travel before or after your project. This free time allows you opportunity to experience the many wonders such as Corbett National Park, the Ganges River, the Khajuraho Bhuddist Temples, Himalayan Mountains, and, of course, the majestic Taj Mahal!
