Description
Experience life as a real Australian Jackaroo in Australia. Train to become an Australian cowgirl or cowboy! You will be taught the fine art of farming using traditional Jackaroo and Jillaroo techniques. You will learn the same skills on both courses, but more time will be taken on the 11-day school to familiarize and train you with the details of the Jackaroo profession, whereas the 5 day school is more of a "fun" course!
All levels of rider are welcome, from complete beginner to advanced - your skills will be taken into account throughout the course. The sorts of things you can expect to learn and take part are:
* Grooming and saddling up
* Natural / Outback horsemanship riding
* Horse shoeing
* Whip cracking and lassoing
* Mustering on horseback
* Sheep shearing
* Pasture improvement
* Fencing or yard building (this often involves tree felling)
* Yarding and drafting cattle
* A talk on cattle breeds and husbandry
* Wrestling, branding and marking calves
