Highlights
Program Details:
In your first week on the program you will get to know your local area but more importantly get the surf coaching that will make you feel comfortable on the waves in no time at all. Once you have got to know the basics in your own surf lessons you will be helping the center to put together lesson plans for the children, help the children when they arrive to get suited up and select the right surf boards for them so that they can enjoy the same experience you have just had safely.
In your second week you will head into the waves with the children to help teach them to surf! There will always be an experienced instructor on hand nearby and you will only have two children to teach at anyone time. You'll be working roughly 10am until 5.30pm with a break for lunch each day.
The children that you will work with on this project are from disadvantaged backgrounds who would never be able to afford a wetsuit or surfboard so would never think of trying to learn to surf. You will be bringing to them some happiness by showing them your newly found skills and what can be done with them. You will also have plenty of time to explore the stunning Cape Town area in your weekends. There are so many activities and places to see that it would take months to do them all!
