Description
Spend up to three weeks of your summer exploring Greece and two of its exciting islands - Mykonos and Delos. On this program, you will visit many of Greece's legendary sites and see art treasures that have inspired the Western World. In addition, you may earn three undergraduate Humanities credits while you travel!
Beginning in Athens, you visit the Acropolis, home of the famous Parthenon and Temple of the goddess Athena. Then off to Delphi - the home of the mysterious Oracle, Corinth - where the Apostle Paul preached and Olympia - the site of the Temple of Zeus and of the original Olympic games. Several day trips are scheduled to Napflion, Epidauros, Eleusis, Sparta and Mycenae.
In the third week, the group will travel to Mykonos and a day trip to the island of Delos - the birthplace of Apollo - will be scheduled. Greek legends will come alive as you visit each site and learn about the culture and people who created them. And, unlike traditional tours, participants will have extra time, at each site, to draw, photograph or just explore.
Time periods, myths and the development of Grecian Art & Architecture will be discussed on historical sites and in museums. This program is truly provides a marvelous opportunity to learn about Greek Art, Mythology and History.
Participants attending two week may earn 2 undergraduate humanities credits and those attending three weeks, may earn 3 undergraduate humanities credits
Note: Students participating in this program must complete AHD 1010 Survey of World Art I or its equivalent, prior to attending.
